New Orleans

This has been an excellent few days in New Orleans. This is the first time I've been to the Big Easy and I have loved every minute of it. The weather has been fantastic. I've checked out the French Market, Bourbon Street, and visited the neighborhoods where Katrina did the most damage. The food is great.
The reason I am in New Orleans is for the NSTA Conference. I have been to some really good sessions. I was also able to meet with several of the MESSENGER Fellows in person and online. I leave tomorrow morning for colder weather.

Welcome to my blog

This has been an exciting week. I have been in Maryland at the Johns Hopkins University/Applied Physics Laboratory as the MESSENGER satellite made its second flyby past Mercury. I watched as the images came in early in the morning and listened as scientists gave preliminary explanations of what the data is showing. The images are amazing.
